Our Chief Executive, Dame Laura Lee, met with Bami, Bob, Huei and Rob around the kitchen table to talk about the impact cancer has had on them and the support Maggie's provides.
In November 1996, we opened our very first centre in Edinburgh and over the last 25 years, Maggie's has grown into an incredible network of centres across the UK and abroad. We continue to support people with cancer when they need us most.
For 25 years people with cancer and their friends and family have gathered around Maggie's kitchen tables.
Right from the beginning, Maggie knew how important the kitchen table would be in her blueprint for a new type of cancer support.
A place that is safe and inviting and where anything can be talked about. And since then the kitchen table has become the heart of every Maggie’s.
And I know there will have been so much laughter and togetherness as cups of tea have been shared at our kitchen tables.
Dame Laura Lee, Maggie's CEO
Our founder, Maggie's idea was that with the right support, nobody would "lose the joy of living in the fear of dying" when diagnosed with cancer.
She came up with the idea for a new type of cancer care that brings people together in a calm and friendly space that would help them to find comfort in the experiences of others.
If you or someone you love has cancer, Maggie’s is here with you.
No matter what you’re facing, our support specialists, psychologists and benefits advisors are here to help you find your way to live with cancer.
We’ll offer you support that fits your needs. Even our buildings are a bit special, and different from a hospital. Every Maggie’s is as unique as you are.
