Dywedodd y Fonesig Laura Lee, Prif Weithredwr Maggie’s: “Rydym wrth ein bod fod ein canolfan ganser yng Ngogledd Cymru wedi 'dathlu cyrraedd y brig', sy'n golygu ein bod gam yn nes at gynnig cymorth i bobl sy'n byw gyda chanser yng Ngogledd Cymru.
“Heb gefnogaeth hynod hael Sefydliad Steve Morgan i gomisiynu, dylunio, adeiladu ac ariannu'r prosiect, ni fyddem wedi gallu dod â Maggie’s i Ogledd Cymru. Rwy'n hynod o ddiolchgar am hynny.
“Mae Sefydliad Steve Morgan wedi ymrwymo i adeiladu tair canolfan Maggie’s newydd – gan gynnwys yr un yng Ngogledd Cymru – sy’n weithred ryfeddol o ddyngarwch.
“Rwy'n edrych ymlaen yn arw at barhau i gydweithio â Sefydliad Steve Morgan a Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr i allu agor ein canolfan newydd yn ddiweddarach eleni.
“Mae canolfannau Maggie’s ar gael i bawb sydd angen eu cymorth ac rydym yn cynnig gwasanaethau am ddim ac nid oes angen i neb drefnu apwyntiad na chael eu cyfeirio atom ni. Rydym yn gwybod fod hyn yn gwneud gwahaniaeth enfawr o ran helpu pobl i ymdopi â'u diagnosis - yn cynnwys paratoi at y driniaeth, cymorth a sgil effeithiau posibl, cymorth wedi'r driniaeth, cyngor ynghylch budd-daliadau neu ymdopi â chanser sydd wedi ymledu.”
Mae Sefydliad Steve Morgan wedi rhoddi £4 miliwn i dalu am adeiladu’r ganolfan yng Ngogledd Cymru ac mae eisoes wedi comisiynu, dylunio, adeiladu ac ariannu canolfan Maggie’s yng Nghilgwri a agorwyd yn swyddogol ar dir Canolfan Ganser Clatterbridge yng Nghilgwri ym mis Medi 2021. Yn ystod 2024, fe wnaeth y ganolfan gynorthwyo pobl fwy na 18,000 o weithiau.
Mae trydedd ganolfan Maggie’s yn Lerpwl (sydd i’w hadeiladu ar dir Ysbyty Brenhinol Newydd Lerpwl wrth ymyl Canolfan Ganser newydd Clatterbridge, Lerpwl) hefyd yn cael ei datblygu, diolch i Sefydliad Steve Morgan.
Dywedodd Steve Morgan, Cadeirydd Sefydliad Steve Morgan: “Mae hon yn garreg filltir gyffrous yn y gwaith o adeiladu canolfan newydd Maggie's ac rydym wrth ein bodd â chynnydd y gwaith, sy'n golygu y dylem allu agor y ganolfan yn unol â'r bwriad yn yr hydref.
“Bydd y ganolfan newydd yn sicrhau y gall pobl Gogledd Cymru ddefnyddio gwasanaethau cymorth canser hanfodol Maggie's yn rhwydd, ac rydym yn falch o allu gwireddu hynny. Mae ethos y Sefydliad yn rhoi pwyslais ar 'roddi arian yn dda' ac mae ein partneriaeth â Maggie's yn enghraifft wych o sut gallwn ddefnyddio ein harbenigedd, ein cymorth ymarferol a'n profiad masnachol i fwyafu dylanwad ein cymorth ariannol.
“Rydym yn edrych ymlaen yn arw at weld Canolfan Maggie's Gogledd Cymru yn agor ei drysau.”
Mae Ysbyty Glan Clwyd yn cael ei reoli gan Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr a lleolir Canolfan Trin Canser Gogledd Cymru yno.
Dywedodd Gareth Williams, Dirprwy Gadeirydd Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr: “Mae heddiw yn ddiwrnod arwyddocaol iawn i Maggie’s, Gogledd Cymru, ein Bwrdd Iechyd a Sefydliad Steve Morgan.
“Rydym yn falch iawn o gael cydweithio â phartneriaid mor nodedig i ddatblygu cyfleuster a wnaiff ategu gwaith yr elusennau yr ydym eisoes yn cydweithio â hwy – ac a fydd yn sicr o wella gofal, cymorth a lles emosiynol cleifion canser, eu teuluoedd a’u ffrindiau. Mae gallu manteisio ar arbenigedd a gwybodaeth Maggie's er budd ein poblogaeth yn rhywbeth y dylem ei ddathlu. Heddiw, rydym gam yn nes at wireddu canolfan Maggie's yng Ngogledd Cymru.
“Wrth gwrs, ni fyddai hyn yn bosibl heb haelioni, adnoddau a phrofiad Sefydliad Steve Morgan. Heb os, y weithred fwyaf dyngarol yw cynnig lle diogel, cymorth a chysur i bobl sy'n aml yn profi heriau mwyaf eu bywyd.
“Rwyf i a fy nghyd-aelodau o'r Bwrdd a'n cydweithwyr ledled y sefydliad yn edrych ymlaen at weld drysau'r ganolfan yn agor i bawb yn ddiweddarach eleni.
Disgwylir y gwnaiff drysau Maggie’s, Gogledd Cymru, agor yn 2025, a hon fydd trydedd ganolfan Maggie’s yng Nghymru; fe wnaeth Maggie’s, Abertawe agor yn 2011 ac fe wnaeth Maggie's, Caerdydd agor yn 2019. Fe wnaeth y ddwy ganolfan yn Ne Cymru gynorthwyo pobl oedd â chanser, yn ogystal â'u teuluoedd a'u ffrindiau, fwy na 18,500 o weithiau yn 2024.
Rydym yn obeithiol y bydd cymorth hael Sefydliad Steve Morgan yn denu rhoddwyr eraill a chymorth gan y gymuned leol i’n helpu i godi’r £1miliwn sydd ei angen arnom i agor y ganolfan newydd.
Ers bron i 30 mlynedd, mae Maggie's yn arbenigo mewn darparu cymorth a gwybodaeth ynghylch canser yn rhad ac am ddim mewn canolfannau ledled y DU. Mae'r canolfannau wedi'u hadeiladu ar dir ysbytai trin canser y GIG, ac maent yn gynnes ac yn groesawgar, ac yn cael eu rhedeg gan staff arbenigol sy'n helpu pobl i fyw'n dda gyda chanser.

Maggie’s cancer support centre to open in Denbighshire later this year thanks to £4 million from the Steve Morgan Foundation.
A new cancer support centre in North Wales has celebrated its ‘topping out’ - a traditional ceremony to mark the completion of the highest part of the building.
The Maggie’s centre is being completely commissioned, designed and funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation.
The support centre is built in the grounds of Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire and marked the milestone by nailing a ceremonial bough to the roof.
Dame Laura Lee, Chief Executive, of Maggie’s, said: “We are delighted our North Wales centre has ‘topped out’, meaning support for people living with cancer in North Wales is a step closer.
“Without the Steve Morgan Foundation’s incredibly generous support in commissioning, designing, building and funding we wouldn’t have been able to bring Maggie’s to North Wales and for that I am so grateful.
“The Steve Morgan Foundation has committed to building three new Maggie’s centres – including the one in North Wales – which is a truly phenomenal act of philanthropy.
“I am greatly looking forward to continuing to work with the Steve Morgan Foundation, and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to open our new centre later this year.
“Maggie’s is there for everyone who needs it, and we are free with no appointment or referral necessary.
"We know this makes a huge difference to helping people cope with their diagnosis – from getting ready for cancer treatment, help with potential side-effects, support after treatment, providing benefits advice or coping with advanced cancer.”
The Steve Morgan Foundation has provided £4 million to build the centre in North Wales and has already commissioned, designed, built and funded Maggie’s, Wirral which officially opened in the grounds of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral in September 2021.
In 2024 the centre supported people more than 18,000 times.
A third Maggie’s centre in Liverpool - to be built within the grounds of the New Royal Liverpool Hospital next to the new Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool – is also in development thanks to the Steve Morgan Foundation.
Steve Morgan, Chairman of the Steve Morgan Foundation, said: “This is an exciting milestone in the build of the new Maggie’s centre and we are delighted with the progress, which keeps us on track for the planned opening in the Autumn.
“The new centre will ensure the people of North Wales have easy access to the vital cancer support that Maggie’s provides and we are pleased to be able to make that happen.
"The ethos of the Foundation is to ‘give money away well’ and our partnership with Maggie’s is a prime example of how we can harness our expertise, practical support and commercial experience to maximise the impact of our financial support.
“We are very much looking forward to when Maggie’s North Wales opens its doors and to continuing our partnership with Maggie’s through the development of the centre in Liverpool.”
Glan Clwyd Hospital is managed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and is home of the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.
Deputy Chair of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Gareth Williams, said: “This is a really significant day for Maggie’s, North Wales, our Health Board and the Steve Morgan Foundation.
“We are delighted to be working with such notable partners on a facility which will complement the charities we already work with – and will no doubt enhance the emotional care, support and wellbeing of cancer patients, their families and friends.
"Adding the expertise and knowledge Maggie’s brings, for the benefit of our population, is something we should celebrate. Today brings Maggie’s, North Wales a major step closer.
“Of course, this would not be possible without the generosity, resource and experience of the Steve Morgan Foundation. There’s surely no greater philanthropic act than providing a place of safety, support and comfort to those who are often going through their most challenging life experiences.
“I, my fellow Board members and our colleagues across the organisation look forward to the doors opening for everyone later this year.”
Maggie’s, North Wales, expected to open in late 2025, will be the third Maggie’s in Wales, with Maggie’s, Swansea opening in 2011 and Maggie’s, Cardiff opening in 2019.
These two centres supported people with cancer, as well as family and friends, more than 18,500 times in 2024.
We are hopeful that the Steve Morgan Foundation's generous support will attract other donors and the support of the local community to help us raise the £1 million we need to open the new centre.
