We are delighted that our President, The Duchess of Rothesay, visited Maggie's Glasgow on Friday 7 September 2018.

Her Royal Highness, who has supported Maggie’s for 10 years, arrived at the centre with Laura Lee, our Chief Executive, in the Maggie’s Glasgow car before being welcomed at the centre by Patron and broadcaster Kirsty Wark.

On a tour of the centre she met staff, centre visitors who shared a little of their own cancer experiences with The Duchess and key supporters including Nina Barough, founder of Walk the Walk, the principal funder of Maggie’s Glasgow allowing Maggie’s to build and open the centre in 2011 thanks to funds from walkers of The MoonWalk Scotland.

Maggie’s daughter Lily Jencks, who designed the gardens of Maggie’s Glasgow, was also at the centre to meet Her Royal Highness before The Duchess enjoyed a juicing demonstration (part of Maggie’s Nutrition programme) in the kitchen area.

Laura Lee, Chief Executive of Maggie’s, said:

“It’s always an honour to welcome The Duchess of Rothesay to one of our Centres. In the 10 years that Her Royal Highness has been Maggie’s President, she has visited many of our Centres in England, Wales and Scotland.

Her visits make a huge impact and her warmth and generosity of spirit is greatly appreciated by all who meet her. We’re incredibly grateful to Her Royal Highness for her passion and continued unswerving commitment to Maggie’s.”

During the 10 years of her support Her Royal Highness has often visited centres including Manchester, Dundee and Swansea, opened Maggie’s Aberdeen with Her Royal Highness The Queen of Norway and hosted many events in support of Maggie’s.
