Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is praised for her openness after sharing a heartfelt video announcing she has completed chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the road unknown.
In the video, The Princess can be seen alongside her children and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, as they share laughter and playful moments together in the outdoors.
The Princess says in the video voiceover: “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.
“Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the road unknown.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, the path to healing and full recovery is long.”
Dame Laura Lee, our chief executive, comments: “It is fantastic news that The Princess of Wales has finished her chemotherapy, and it will benefit so many people living with cancer to see her come through treatment and share this video.
“As The Princess said, the cancer journey is complex. A lot of people can find it tough when they end their cancer treatment and return to work.
“Your family, friends and work colleagues might think you are back to normal – but the person who has just been through it all can still feel vulnerable and in need of a lot of support.”
“Everyone's road to recovery is different, and it is important to take it one step at a time depending on what feels right for you.
“Maggie’s is here for anyone who needs help to deal with the emotional and physical difficulties in finishing treatment.”
