This September, we’re delighted to welcome our ambassador Ryan Riley and his Pineapple Truck to five of our centres where he’ll give an outdoor socially-distanced cookery class to people living with cancer.
Ryan is taking his brilliant Life Kitchen cookery classes on the road to help people with cancer rediscover and revive their love of food.
The classes focus on helping people understand more about taste and flavour and focus on enjoying cooking again, allowing that often-needed respite from treatment.
If you would like to join one of the classes – please get in touch with the centre to reserve your place:
Both Ryan and co-founder Kimberley Duke were inspired to launch Life Kitchen after losing parents to cancer.
Throughout Ryan’s mum Krista’s two-year battle with cancer, Ryan saw how chemotherapy was affecting her ability to taste and enjoy food.
After her death, he wanted to honour his mother’s memory in some way and use his cooking skills to help cancer patients find flavour and enjoyment in food again. And so, Life Kitchen was born.
In 2018 the Life Kitchen won the award for Best Ethical Food Project in the Observer Food Monthly Awards.
