To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the Scottish Potters Association members created 50 unique mugs which they are donating to our Scottish centres.
The 50 Mugs For Maggie’s project sees Scottish Potters Association members* from across Scotland create mugs in their own unique style.
The mugs range from slipcast to thrown ceramics, wood fired, contemporary, traditional and all come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours.
Caroline Gault, chair of Scottish Potters Association explains:
Scottish Potters Association came into being in 1974 and we’re here to support Scottish potters on their journey whether they’re a hobby potter or a production potter.
We’re a community that supports one another, just like Maggie’s is a community for people with cancer to support each other during a difficult time.
We’ve had some potters that have had the benefit of coming to Maggie’s and getting that expert support, so we wanted to give back.
Vera Schroeter, Centre Head of Maggie’s in Aberdeen says:
It was wonderful to welcome Caroline Gault and local artist Hilary Firth to our centre and to receive these beautiful hand made mugs.
The people we support were delighted to learn more about the inspiration behind the unique designs - while also enjoying a cuppa.
Every visit to our centre starts with the offer of a cup of tea or coffee, alongside access to expert support from one of our psychologists, cancer support specialists or benefits advisors.
We’re so grateful to the Scottish Potters Association for so generously donating these unique mugs to us in celebration of their 50th anniversary.
